The City of Kerman has been awarded the prestigious Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2014/15 Budget.
The award represents a significant achievement by the City. It reflects their commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, Kerman had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well the City’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award. The City received the award on the first submittal after passing the GFOA’s examination process.
“The City of Kerman is pleased to receive such a prestigious honor from the Government Finance Officers Association,” stated City Manager Luis Patlan. “This award is a testament to the City’s commitment to make our budget documents transparent, informative and easy to understand by the City Council and the public we proudly serve.”
